Finally cooled off - low 60's last night and rain, sunny and windy today with high around 72. Barge traffic dropped off when we hit the Cumberland but still a lot of commerce being pushed up and down the rivers in the central USA. Oil changed and ready for another 100 hours. NAPA guy Jeff delivered the filters and town dock guy disposed of the waste oil - God has provided lots of helpers along our way.

Foot is getting more colorful but less sore.

The poles are 62 feet high to allow for the dock to float during the spring floods.

Paducah has a huge concrete boat landing.

Town dock as we pulled away.

25 mph winds today but on the river is not like being on the big pond.

Confluence of the Ohio and the Tennessee.

Depending on the curves in the river we went from rough to calm.

We turned up the Cumberland just below the Smithland lock and dam - one of Charlie Yderstad's projects.

Barkley lock and dam is huge - 50+ foot lift.

Still amazes me how they load the barges.

We went up the Cumberland - fast current and 20 miles longer but no traffic as compared to the Tennessee.

Barkley - gave it everything I had for 20 minutes on the lift but couldn't keep the pulpit off the wall for all of it.

Thirsty Turtle to relax.

Great update. Pretty cool snapshot of Smithland. You can see the remnants of the old channel they built to divert the Ohio while they constructed the dam. Safe travels!
Glad you are getting some R&R along with the adventure! Love you🥰, we will have to FaceTime soon for Arwen to see your dogs 🤣
