Final post for a few months as we now are laid up and winterized in Demopolis, AL. Kingfisher Bay Marina is a very nice, quiet, clean and well managed marina - everything seems first class. John Felix came as first mate for the run from Aqua yacht to Kingfisher Bay 230 river miles and 10 locks. We made the run in 3 travel days and then began winterizing and installing the bridge and cockpit covers - several hundred snaps, lift-a-dot and common sense connectors. Dinghy came home -1080 road miles - so we can hopefully find the leak and repair it.
One of the 10 locks on the Tenn-Tom Waterway.
We were dropping elevation at each lock for this section of the trip.
Floating bollards are not easy to tie off to in the wind with cleats in the position they are on the Ark.
These "wickets" can be rotated during floods and pleasure craft can bypass the lock and drive over the wickets.
Always a good site to see the lock doors opening.
We ran 118 miles with this big boat on our last day on the Tenn-Tom.
2000 rpm and a slight current led to fast run.
White rock walls line the waterway as you get close to Demopolis.
Smooth running in the waterway.
Some erosion but not a common sight.
More of the white rock bluffs.
One of many interesting decks hanging out over the river.
Travel lift required running into the slings without using the engines or thruster - not so easy in a wind.
They said 20,000# on the rear sling and 12,000# on the front.
Exhaust hood on the port side.
Exhaust hood missing on the Starboard side.
1080 miles by road.
Cockpit cover will help shade the back area of the boat and keeps things clean while resting on the hard deck for the winter.
Sunrise 11/1 at Kingfisher Bay
Our neighbor on the hard deck is building a 32 foot long, 20 foot beam catamaran
Last look on the way North.
Enjoy every day - each one is a gift from God.
