Brewerton to Baldwinsville and then to Lyons.

We left Brewerton with our air draft as low as we could get. Nice 20 mile cruise to Baldwinsville and we tried to dock at Cooper's marina. No 50 amp service so we tried our 30 amp adaptor cords but couldn't get adequate power to run anything. We went back to the free wall in town and again tried the adapters but no luck - further down the wall they had 50 amp and we were up and running for the night. In the morning I had to parastart the starboard - first time ever for that but we were up and running and had a nice cruise with plans to get through lock 28 and stay in Newark on the free wall there - with 50 amp. Stopped at Miller's Marina between lock 27, 28 to top off the fuel for added weight to get under the low bridges - we could touch the bridge before lock 27 as we passed under! We couldn't restart the starboard and couldn't get power to the EDC on the starboard at all - nothing at the main panel and nothing beyond that. Zero mechanics available in this area of the canal. Praying we were led to the right connection to clean and that overnight drying takes care of whatever short we are dealing with.

New York State Excelsior flag and the canal system flag

Another guillotine style lock chamber

Nice way to keep track of progress.

Some of these signs are pretty well hidden.

Even a few small lighthouses along the canal.

Another steel lined lock.

Baldwinsville

Our system for getting even the radar pedestal below the arch.

Free wall, $10 for 50 amp

Right next to the cemetery - quiet neighborhood.

Lots of mannequins on docks - I think as decoys to get boaters to slow down.

Water level looks slightly low which is what we need to make it through to Buffalo.

Little tugs with hydraulic pilot houses.

Pilot house lowered.

Must have been a big wind event recently because lots of threes freshly down.

Many areas have old road or other abandoned structures.

We locked through with this 100% solar boat.

He said on really sunny days he can get 3 mph

Canal sections are pretty narrow here - maybe 80-90 feet wide total from side to side.

Again water level looks low.

Bridge slightly higher on the right - cleared by about 16 inches.

If the light is green the trap is clean

Rough walls in the concrete only locks.

Lyons apparently has a lot of murals.

Our unexpected home for the night - Miller's marina.

6 miles and one lock short of our plan but here safe so all is good for the night. Praying for 2 engines to start in the morning and get us to Rochester. If not we may try to run on one engine.
