We made the decision to leave the boat at Aqua Yacht Harbor for a couple weeks and head back to Minnesota to see our kids and grandkids. 880 miles 13.25 hours. We enjoyed our week with Randy and Laura and got several things ready for our return. We tried to plug a small leak in our underwater exhaust connection but that will have to wait until we are out of the water. Bridge and cockpit covers should arrive in Chanhassen this week so I can plan their install and bring them back to Mississippi with me. Dogs are ambivalent whether at the house or on the boat as long as they are in the mix. I have my dad's "Believers Prayer" on the back of our looping card and I met a great couple just down the dock from us  - Dave and Susan - who uses a $1,000,000 bill for his conversation starter about Christ. Great to meet, talk and pray with our Christian brothers and sisters along the loop. The million dollar question is: are you certain where you will go if you died today - if not get to know Jesus.
The very start of the Tenn-Tom waterway - about 250 feet wide - enough to squeeze the Ark and a 2 or 3 wide barge tow.

Beautiful waterfall in a quiet cove off the left descending bank of the Tennessee river at mile marker 217.2.


Look close and you can see the rope swing on the left - about as safe as swinging off the Soo Line Ore Dock back in the day.


Video of one wave of bass boats heading out for their Saturday Tournament. We saw them lining up on our 6 AM dog walk - couldn't begin to count how many. Loading the rental car at 6:30 AM the first horn sounded and they took off in waves like a swarm of 200+ hp bees. Everyone going to their predetermined first spot at mach schnell. Some out onto Pickwick Lake and some heading toward the Tenn-Tom - crazy to watch.


 
The bass tournament was treated to a beautiful sunrise.

Busy little cove - everyone wants to get in and take a look. We enjoyed a few hours in there. We had friends with us and his brother had a heart attack and subsequent bypass surgery so we had to be on the move. His brother is doing well post-op.

We waited out the rain and low visibility at George Kemp and it was the right choice. We were able to run on plane all day and got into Grand Marais early. Visited looper friends Terry and Connie who we met during our time at Kingfisher Bay in Demopolis, AL. 8/27 we had more wind than predicted but we were still able to run on plane and got into Marquette about noon just as the wind was picking up steam. Leaving George Kemp at sunrise - helped off the dock by Scott - skipper of the Jenna Lou II that was docked very close to us in Ashland for a year - they are just starting their loop and we wish them smooth cruising and a great time! We got to Ashland marina 9/1 - 3 wind days in Houghton and then a one day calm window - 142 miles. Predawn dog walk - zero wind. Looking back East from the dock in Houghton at sunrise. Ready to leave on our last travel day before home dock. Off the dock 7 AM Eastern. Beautiful morning heading out the Keewenaw canal. The big pond was calm most of the way. Porcupine Mountain ski area. Copper Peak ski flying Some times there was zero wind and others we got up to about 1.5 foot waves. John was with us on the Ark when we left Ashland 8/15/21 - escort boat in 9/1/22. Stopped for a photo about 2 PM Central time - 142 miles 8 hours - included a stop for fuel and a dog walk at Saxon Harbor Ocky droned us but I can't find the drone pictures. Looking like we'll be in Demopolis for another week.

 Foot infection has us slowed down and with the weather/flood window closing it looks like we will celebrate Easter in Demopolis. Looking like rain and rapidly rising river for the next few days. Our friends the Gandy's in Jackson MS got Lez set up to see a Dr there tomorrow - foot finally looking a bit better but we don't want to risk trouble 200 miles from medical care on the river. The marina workers were busy this afternoon trying to corner a 5-6 foot water moccasin under our dock - my advice was to eliminate with extreme prejudice. These critters are all over and try to nest in every nook and cranny. Just under 1" long. We are both double aces taking out over 10 enemy aircraft apiece.  They have a nice pool here and are working every day with the landscaping. Roses are coming into bloom.
