Knocking on the door of the Erie Canal.

Very calm this morning in Poughkeepsie. The heavy matted weeds are some invasive species from Brazil.
We were docked in 60 feet of water but inside the docks were thick mats of the evil weed they have here.

These weeds break loose and float up and down the river with tide.

Lots of light houses along the Hudson.

We started seeing eagles again today.

Waterski calm for much of our cruise today - 68 miles. We tried to avoid a big barge and cut across where Avionics said we had 27 feet only to find ourselves in 3 feet of water. By the Grace of God we made it across and didn't have to call towboatUS.

Fair number of large ships and barges today.

Power boat race today with lots of loud spectator boats - luckily we got an early start and were North of the fray.

Multiple sheriff boats patrolling the race area.

Coming into Albany.

Troy.

Troy Town dock is a floater with bollards - very nice.

It can float up 30 feet if it floods.

68 miles today puts us 1 mile below the Federal lock.

We hope to get past Erie Canal lock 7 tomorrow as we sort out the pace here.

We got to Ashland marina 9/1 - 3 wind days in Houghton and then a one day calm window - 142 miles. Predawn dog walk - zero wind. Looking back East from the dock in Houghton at sunrise. Ready to leave on our last travel day before home dock. Off the dock 7 AM Eastern. Beautiful morning heading out the Keewenaw canal. The big pond was calm most of the way. Porcupine Mountain ski area. Copper Peak ski flying Some times there was zero wind and others we got up to about 1.5 foot waves. John was with us on the Ark when we left Ashland 8/15/21 - escort boat in 9/1/22. Stopped for a photo about 2 PM Central time - 142 miles 8 hours - included a stop for fuel and a dog walk at Saxon Harbor Ocky droned us but I can't find the drone pictures. George Kemp to Grand Marais and then on to Marquette.

We waited out the rain and low visibility at George Kemp and it was the right choice. We were able to run on plane all day and got into Grand Marais early. Visited looper friends Terry and Connie who we met during our time at Kingfisher Bay in Demopolis, AL. 8/27 we had more wind than predicted but we were still able to run on plane and got into Marquette about noon just as the wind was picking up steam. Leaving George Kemp at sunrise - helped off the dock by Scott - skipper of the Jenna Lou II that was docked very close to us in Ashland for a year - they are just starting their loop and we wish them smooth cruising and a great time! Looking at the Too locks from the down stream side. Looking like we'll be in Demopolis for another week.

 Foot infection has us slowed down and with the weather/flood window closing it looks like we will celebrate Easter in Demopolis. Looking like rain and rapidly rising river for the next few days. Our friends the Gandy's in Jackson MS got Lez set up to see a Dr there tomorrow - foot finally looking a bit better but we don't want to risk trouble 200 miles from medical care on the river. The marina workers were busy this afternoon trying to corner a 5-6 foot water moccasin under our dock - my advice was to eliminate with extreme prejudice. These critters are all over and try to nest in every nook and cranny. Just under 1" long. We are both double aces taking out over 10 enemy aircraft apiece.  They have a nice pool here and are working every day with the landscaping. Roses are coming into bloom.
